Experimental Short Film (2023)
The ‘‘Placenta’’ film is an abstract interpretation of the concept of human life. In the expanse of life as a newborn who grows, we are standing in the infinity of moments and space. Struggling to persevere, battling to keep going, and resisting temptation.
The meaning of this existence is to bear A collection of emotions, memories, events, and dreams. This is the only possession a person has during his lifetime.
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
My recent work strives to move beyond the boundaries of language, culture, and geography, reaching toward a cinema that speaks to the shared depths of human experience. At the heart of this search lies the tension and harmony between humanity and nature.
Placenta was born from this vision. Determined to create with minimal resources, I embraced the challenge of writing, directing, shooting, and editing the film myself, while collaborating with a small and devoted cast. Over two months of preparation, shaping the script, designing the central costume, and planning the imagery culminated in a single day of filming on the remote shoreline of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchistan province. The stark landscape became both setting and character, echoing the film’s meditation on origin, struggle, and existence.
